Is Age Spot Treatment Right for Me?

Though this procedure is considered to be ideal for almost anyone with the presence of age spots on their skin, there are a few caveats. For example, this treatment typically does not work well for patients who have a potential risk of keloid scars or who take certain medications. Typically, good candidates for cryotherapy age spot removal:

  • Maintain good, overall health to assist with the healing process
  • Experience red and brown spots on the face, hands, chest, or legs
  • Possess broken capillaries
  • Have unwanted freckles

How is Age Spot Treatment Performed?

Before the treatment begins, we will ask patients to lie back comfortably on one of our treatment chairs. At this point, one of our team members will begin to cleanse the targeted area in order to remove any lotion, oil, and dirt that may exist. Then, we will apply cold plates to the age spots for about 15 – 20 seconds. As the procedure is considered to be comfortable, no anesthetic or numbing agents will be necessary. Once the cold plates have cooled the skin, we will begin to slowly glide the Glacial RX device over the targeted area. The cold temperature will safely damage the skin cells in the area, eliminating the pigmentation and stimulating the natural production of collagen in the skin. Unlike other devices, Glacial RX utilizes a process known as Cryomodulation™, which takes advantage of intense cold to suppress the production of melanin — the primary cause of age spots. As an added bonus, this cooling can increase the comfort level of the procedure, as well as reduce the levels of redness and/or inflammation. Afterward, we will apply serums specifically designed for this procedure, which provide protective antioxidants and brightening agents meant to protect your skin.

What Results Can I Expect from Age Spot Treatment?

Due to the noninvasive nature of the procedure, patients are free to return home at the immediate conclusion of the treatment. However, before they leave, we will provide them with a post-procedure care kit a few detailed aftercare instructions. Though there are not a lot of things to keep in mind, it is important to avoid excessive sun exposure for about 24 hours after the treatment. If patients do go outside, they should use sunscreen with a high SPF to protect their skin. Some individuals may notice some slight redness around the treatment area, though this is totally normal and should subside in only a few hours. About 1 – 2 weeks after the treatment, patients will begin to see a significant improvement in the appearance of the skin.
